João Luiz, JLZ, is one of the most prominent and interesting producers in Brazil now. His creation takes place in a digital minefield full of unexpected Hybrid-Baile explosives, from Vogue to trap, funk BH to gqom and kuduro to Drill. All those exciting timber and styles blends made way to working with huge projects and artists such as Linn da Quebrada, Sángo, Luedji Luna, ÀTTØØXXÁ, Mia Badgyal, Jaloo, Tuyo, Vírus e Baco Exu do Blues.
For ZONAexp, JLZ brings 4 hard hittin, schizoid dancefloor tracks: Drika Frita; Isso é o Mandelão; Me Chama and Shaka Zulu. Those are some of his first electro/ghetto-tech incursions, full of dirty synths, a lot of Mandelão funk along with a spectral noisy gqom inspired by Shaka Zulu, a Zulu king/military that threatened British colonizers till the day of his death.
So take a good listen to this release and whatever comes out of JLZ's head and notebook. And,of course, be careful, this might cause a hyper heating on your processor.
